  • Expert in designing of thermal-fluid systems

  • Expert in the Computational Fluid Dynamics code Flownex that was selected by PBMR (Pty.) Ltd as the main thermal-hydraulic design code for the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor.

  • Software marketing and commercialization, software project management, object oriented design and programming, budget planning and management, mechanical and thermo-hydraulic design.

Experience

  • Currently the Divisional manager responsible for Simulator development at M-Tech.

  • Started his professional career as engineer-in-training at ESKOM’s Lethabo power station in South Africa.

  • During 1998 he was appointed as Turbine plant system engineer, responsible for power plant maintenance and project management during major plant outages. During this period he also obtained a Diploma in welding engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand.

  • Joined M-Tech Industrial in 2000 as thermal-fluid software developer responsible for the design and developments of Flownex, a thermal-fluid software tool used for the design and analysis of system CFD problems.

  • In 2001 he took up the position as Product Development Manager responsible for the design, development and maintenance of Flownex. He currently manages the development efforts of both Flownex and the Industrial plant simulator platform (IPS).

  • During 2003 he was part of the team, responsible for the development of an advanced nuclear reactor model for Flownex developed under contract from the PBMR (Pty.) Ltd. The Pebble bed modular reactor is a nuclear power plant currently under development in South Africa. His responsibilities included the project management as well as the software design, development and implementation of the new model in Flownex.

  • Led the team that successfully obtained government funding from the Innovation fund for the development of an Industrial Plant Simulator platform (IPS). The IPS is a simulator platform based on Flownex that will be used to develop plant simulators for the purpose of operator training. The project is funded for a period of three years and is one of the larges awarded to a commercial company by the Innovation Fund.
