He did vacation work from 1998 – 2000 at Eskom Lethabo Power Station where he was involved with a project in the development of a prototype database system in the Chemical Plant. He was also involved in the development of a prototype cgi system to display plant data.

In 2002 he was employed full time at PBMR (PSAG section) where he was the developer in plant simulation software project.

From August 2002 he was employed by M-Tech in Software Development on Flownex, a fluid systems simulation package which is used by PBMR, Rolls-Royce, MIT etc.

Also involved in Scada Development which was deployed over the internet as a marketing tool for PBMR.

Tiaan also deployed a Web interface for standard Windows software using Windows Terminal Server.

From the middle of 2006 until 2007 Tiaan was the Project Manager of the Flownex Software development project, which entailed planning of release cycles, gathering and prioritizing new feature requests, overseeing implementation and releasing software and supporting clients and agents.

Currently he is responsible for leading and overseeing the technical development for all software projects in the Simulator Development Department. This entails determining the direction taken with new technologies as well as the implementation strategy for all software projects. Overall architectural design and planning for major software projects forms an integral part of the job.
