- During 2001 – 2002 he was an Engineering Assistant at PBMR (vacation work).
- From 2002 he was appointed at M-Tech as a Simulation Design Engineer where he was involved in the following projects:
- Part of a design team for the Heat Transfer Test Facility situated at the North-West University consisting of two separate test units (High Temperature Test Unit and High Pressure Test Unit) built for PBMR.
- Simulation and compressed air reticulation systems for Rustenburg Platinum.
- Simulation of water reticulation systems for Blackrock Village.
- Part of design team of the Pebble Bed Micro Model situated at the North-West University.
- Johan was also appointed as Project Manager for the Helium Test Facility Simulation and
- Analyses project at Pelindaba.
- He is currently the Project Manager for the test execution phase of the High Temperature Test Unit.
